INCREASE/INCLINE/
CONNECT

The project envisions an Open Design Academy that provides students with an inspiring learning
environment while simultaneously making art and
culture accessible to the wider public. The site, located at the Hermannpark along the Donaukanal,
presented significant design challenges due to its varying topography.
A large pedestrian and bicycle ramp connects the lower park area with the elevated city parterre.
This existing feature was reinterpreted in the design, duplicated,
and mirrored to define public spaces and create dynamic visual connections into the academy.

Through this strategy, the ramp becomes a central architectural element that organizes circulation while offering engaging views into the building. The project integrates movement, public interaction, and learning, activating the transition between city, park, and institution and fostering a strong dialogue between architecture and its urban context.
